Excerpt of a Life Reborn (poem)

Date Posted: 2005-10-18

Rewinding we return
that same girl standing
the same psoriac hatred burning
preparing for this torment again
the bleeding and loss
and we wait
like we did before
with no expected change
we few stand by idly
and breaking down
a hole in the crowd opens
moving slowly a man walks
poor in stride, unassuming
seemingly lacking in ability to help
scars of hate visible on his skin
he kneels down and caresses her
whispers of greatness fall on her ears
shuddering waves surge over her
through her, spilling over
and we become drenched in her tears
standing by idly
and all at once we feel
pain, but not hers, ours
and she stands beside her savior
this unassuming man
and they look as if to address us
but no words pour
and then they turn and walk away
one by one we few standing fall
and we comment to each other
"were not our hearts burning"
and we weep bitterly
my feet power to join them
and I stand on the other side
together we walk...
