Since about 1994 I have played the trumpet. I started when I was in sixth grade. Short, skinny, crooked teeth, and a trumpet that was at least half my body length. I am sure I was quite a site. I didn’t always like to practice, but I enjoyed the instrument all the same, and i stuck with it all the way through most of high school where I picked up the nickname “trumpetkid”. I was pretty good too. Now I am much taller, still skinny, straight teeth, and I haven’t really picked up my trumpet in a few years. But I kept the nickname.

Now I would say the name has taken on a different meaning to me personally. It is time to sound the trumpet and call attention to the Kingdom of God. That will be one of the primary function of this site. However that will not be all. Every good trumpet player can play more than one note and so shall this trumpetkid. We may, at times, cover topics regarding design, pop culture, and music. Let’s call those topics grace notes.

I hope you will come back frequently and check out my thoughts and passions and hopefully learn a little bit more about what it means to be a follower of Christ.
